PRESIDENT CHAKWERA’S WORKING VISIT TO ZAMBIA

His Excellency Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, the President of the Republic of Malawi, visited Lusaka on 22nd September, 2020, for a one-day Official Working Visit. The President was accompanied by the First Lady, Madame Monica Chakwera.

The President said he singled out Zambia as the first country to visit since he was elected Malawi Head of State on 28th June, 2020, because of the strong historical background the two countries share.

His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera held bilateral talks with His Excellency Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, on the thematic and mutual areas of cooperation which are aimed at strengthening the cordial relations that exist between the two sisterly nations. The President also laid a wreath at the Presidential Burial Site of the departed Presidents of the Republic Zambia at Embassy Park in Lusaka.

During the visit, the First Lady of the Republic of Malawi, Madame Monica Chakwera and the First lady of the Republic of Zambia, Madame Ester Lungu, visited the Ester Lungu Foundation Trust where Madame Chakwera appreciated the work of the Trust towards alleviating the challenges faced by vulnerable groups of the Zambian society.
