Malawian Students Steal the Show at Cairo International Day Festival.

Upon invitation from the Dean of Faculty to attend the 10th International festival at Cairo University, The Malawian Ambassador Her Excellency Catherine Kunje delegated the work to Defence Attache Col. Hilly Magola and Trade/ Tourism Attache Abdullah Mdala to represent the Mission which took place on 25th February,2023.

According to the chairperson, Promise Mbale, the festival is the biggest annual event hosted by the faculty of medicine and offers students and visitors a unique opportunity to globe trot by exploring and experiencing a feast of different cuisine, cultures and lifestyles.​

Malawian students exceled in showcasing the curios, different types of foods such as masamba otendera, the famous Malawi Chambo fish, Mandasi and beans. On entertainment, Malawian students performed their different types of cultural dances including playing Bawo game which was liked by many patrons. “We are happy that the Dean tasted our food and was impressed with our pavilion said Samson Benjamin assistant coordinator of the event.

Promise Mbale This is the 10th event since the initiative started, and the first one after corona virus in 2020. 16 Nations including Malawi competed in showcasing their foods and cultural performances.

Cairo University is the most prestigious university when it comes to medical studies. Since its establishment in 1827, It is among the first medical faculties in Africa, middle east, and the first in Egypt with over 100 specialties. The faculty provides thousands of doctors, nurses, and dentists, it is truly a pristine educational institution. It also has its own hospital, Al-Qasr Al-Aini, where students learn and practice medicine under the supervision of their professors, with multiple labs, research centers, and even medical museums, it reigns as Egypt’s beacon of medical education. Currently there are only 8 undergraduate Malawian students 5 girls and 3 boys out of 56 Total no of students at Cairo University.
