Malawi Mission Incorporated In Celebrating ‘World Heart Day’

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Population, the Cardiovascular Scientific Foundation “CVREP” in cooperation with the Africa Health Conference “Africa Health ExCon”, the Egyptian Authority for Unified Purchasing and Medical Supply and the Medical Technology Management, and Exabend Company, organized the symposium to celebrate World Heart Day.

The symposium was held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 8:30 pm at the Hilton Heliopolis Hotel - Cairo.

This symposium comes within the framework of close and constructive cooperation between the Egyptian Authority for Unified Purchasing, Medical Logistics and Supply and the Scientific Foundation for Cardiovascular Diseases with “Africa Health ExCon” as the first awareness cooperation between the two parties, and in line with the global and African vision of the World Cardiology Organization.

This is done through awareness lectures and seminars in the presence of a group of the most important cardiology professors, members of the Foundation, policy makers, and cardiology experts from various bodies, business leaders, manufacturers, and representatives of civil society including foreign Missions residence in Cairo.

The symposium began with an opening session in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Sobhi, President of the Scientific Foundation for the Heart and Arteries, Major General Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidan, Head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Purchasing, Medical Logistics and Supply, and Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs.

The event included two panel discussions with the first one entitled “How can policy makers promote cardiovascular health?

After deliberations from the first title, the symposium concluded with a second dialogue session entitled “Main Innovations in Heart Health in Egypt 2030.”

The Malawian Ambassador in Egypt Her Excellency   Catherine Nurujean Kunje appreciated the Ministry of Health in Egypt for sending a special invitation. In her remarks the Ambassador said that Malawi ought to benefit from this event by continued networking with different stakeholders in the health sector as reflected in the 10 year implementation plan of the Malawi Vision 2063 agenda.

The World Health Organization indicates that Cardiovascular diseases (CVD’s) account for 46% of total deaths in Egypt and major public health  concern with significant social and economic implications in terms of healthcare-needs, lost productivity and premature death among others.
